Why or why not ?

well things happen, I am going to say that, the events themselves are just that. Events. Its how we choose to deal with them that makes them fair or unfair.

The question was about life which is made up from a series of events. So on the whole it`s our view or choice that determines how fair life is, yes? no?

Well on Christmas eve I lost a dear friend. I have spent some time going through the motions of how unfair that is and how angry it made me and all the stuff that happens. Then I went through all the emotional changes, angry at my friend for heading off at this time of year with out a good bye or anything. You may notice that so far this is all about me (ego) Then it turned into all that `he`s in a better place now` stuff and `he ain't suffering` no more sort of thing. You know all that stuff about well he`s going to have a bumper of a Christmas now! Which quickly turned to jealousy, what was wrong with spendin` Christmas here with us? Which then turned to, mmmm well he has been chosen to return to all that which is everything mmm there must be something I`m doing wrong. Not that I`m suicidal but how does he get to know all the secrets before me (back to the me me me )

Now I have gasumped the question, I`m not looking for sympathy, well not that much. I return to my opening statement.

Fair enough.

The man come in this world to enjoy the life. But he doesn't know the procedure. No doubt the life is fair. Your attitude towards life should be positive.Think good, wish good, speak good and do good and you will realize the fairness of life.

No. And just as well, or we'd all only get our just deserts, which would upset most of us in this opulent world. And, of course, the reason it's not fair is that so many have more than their just deserts and are bent on keeping what they've got. But if we go on breeding as we are there won't be enough to go round anyway, and then the manure will really hit the fan. So perhaps we should be fairer, in our own best interests?

Yes because we chose it. Everything happening to us we have chosen by our past auctions. We chose to misuse our human form of life and do sinful activities. We are now either suffering the results of our sinful activities or enjoying the results of our pious activities. Nothing we are getting is separate from something we did. Mostly from our previous lives. The main thing is we left our real home. God didn't tell us to come to this place. We like curious children wanted to come here. God warned us it would be very difficult to get out of this place and be a very very long time until we return home. But we didn't listen so like a father who gives his child free will let us come here. He gives us the laws of this world so we do not hurt ourselves or others but we misuse and don't follow so we get burned. We can't blame anyone but our own cheating mentality and stupidity why we are suffering. If someone is having good health, wealth, prosperity, nice looks good family then that is due to their past good deeds so we should not envy them they deserve that as well. Best to end all of this good and bad karma and take up the process of Bhakti Yoga (Self realization) and end all suffering and so called temporary material flickering enjoyment. Then at the end of life we can go back to our original eternal Home where there is no more repeated birth death, old age, nor disease. Only pure love and happiness. For info read The Science of Self Realizatin by Bhaktivedanta Prabhupda Its all in there.

This is a very broad question. There are many factors that determine whether or not life is fair. From a sociological point of view, the answer is "no." Most people born in rich nations such as the United States have plenty of opportunities to find decent jobs and to educate themselves. Unfortunately, people who are born in poor nations such as South Africa, will almost inevitably live in primary poverty. Primary poverty is defined as a level of poverty where a person or people cannot afford even the bare neccessities of life. These people usually suffer from malnutrition, dehydration, and have other health problems related to nutrition deficiencies. We, in America, usually define poverty from a secondary point of view. Secondary poverty is defined as living below the level of income that is considered "normal" in a particular society. All socieities define "normal" differently. Need I say more? In America, our definition of "normal" is usually looked at from a more materialistic point of view. So, in conclusion, the very fact that the ultimate quality of life a person experiences depends on what part of the world a person is born in, proves that life is not fair.

Look at all the animals on the Earth. They spend most of their time just trying to find something to eat, and then they get eaten. Compared to them, our lives are the most fair, but not completely. How many other creatures get to die of old age?

I suppose we would have to define what is fair...what may seem fair to me may be absurd to you...life is not like a game of cards where there are one set of rules...we each have to take what hand is delt us and play the game as best we can. Some get a bad deal...others make bad decisions with the hand their delt. But in the end it all comes down to what you are...what you belive....what you do with your life.
