'Christine' is one of the BEST 'car' movies! Ever!
Check out the ORIGINAL 'Gone In 60 Seconds' and skip the remake! 'Eat My Dust' was a kicking debut for Ron Howard. 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' is obvious. 'Grease' probally has one of the most famous 'car restoration' scenes (Greased Lighting). And the movie 'Greased Lighting' is the best race car driver movie, imho, of all-time, starring Richard Pryor in the true story of the first black American race car driver. Check it out :)
