Time dilation is a theory that's been validated through experiments and that can be used to go into the future. Travel into the past is another matter. Breaching space time through worm holes to travel into the past has been posited, but none of that has been validated through experiment.

In fact, even as a hypothesis, the worm hole trip seems highly infeasible if not impossible. Mankind is unlikely to ever have control over the enormous amounts of energy it would take to create a worm hole for breaching space-time.

Read "The Elegant Universe" by Brian Greene, Ph.D. Columbia U.; he covers time travel and lots of other strange stuff, like parallel universes and worm holes, in easy to read and understandable prose.

Not Really. The Reason is that only space is traveled. That means any antity that moves in space is considered to have shited position of location in space. Basically all motion are oscillatory. That means that different periods of time are used per oscilations during the motion.
Time is not a physical dimension. It is defined as per Quantron theory as a Quantity which is indicative of how fast a process is taking place.

The Time Period of the Universe is a set Constant. The reason is that the Energy of the Universe is a Constant and follows the Law of conservation. Thus the Universe is a closed system in a finite containment volume.
Therefore mass ,Energy and Time are conserved. The Values were set during the construction of the Universe and cannot be changed by natural means. That means its an irriversible process that could only be Changed by our Creator of the Universe.
See the Biblical Record of Creation. To obtain some understanding of the significance of Time.

I agree with steve, Stephen Hawking is a great physicist that theorises time travel. He has a great book called, " A Brief History of Time". There is also a very easy to understand infomational video on youtube about time travel.

It depends what you mean by time travel. General Relativity shows how the slowing of time relative to the traveler is possible. Going back in time? That's a different story.

If you do just mean a slowing of time then it's already been done.

Read the reference and draw your own conclusions. He's a professor of astrophysical sciences at Princeton University. Stephen Hawking and Kip Thorne have also spoken on the subject. Before you cite any summary of their ideas, be sure you clearly understand exactly what they do and do not say.

Yes time travel is not only possible but also probable, but only forward or back to when the machine was made.
The problem is, I don't have the references with me so I am afraid I can't enlighten you any further. Try googling it, because it's not such an impossibility as you may think.
Best of luck and see you in the future!

yes - i am aware of at least three theorys to time travel but not who's they are.
going back in time is the one few people see as possable.

i have never read the theory it relation to lasers (this requires the machine to have been in use constantly since the time you wish to go back to) yet its the most likly for someone to try due to the lower power required.

Yes, an American physicist has postulated that it is possible, but that we can only go back, not forward. So if you do go back in time, you are there forever.

Every day I travel through time - 86400 seconds of it. Except when there's a leap second, of course
