It's only 50% of the screen and the images look compressed. What could be wrong?

That isn't the monitor, it's the graphics card settings. Either the drivers were installed and aren't configured properly (Control Panel, Display, Settings tab) or the drivers were not installed, and you'll need to download the drivers from the PC manufacturer's site, or the graphic card maker's site. Email me if you have any questions.

Given that you have just installed a fresh copy of Windows with your new hardrive. Two things can have happend:

1. Your resolution re-set, so right click any where on the desk top goto PROPERTIES>SETTINGS and make the nessisary settings.

2. If step one does not solve to issue, this might mean you are using a video card other then the one built into your motherboard. In this case you might have to download drives for that card which will give you the ability to make resolution adjustments.

Install video drivers for it.

Go into display in the control panel and change the resolution settings.

Ideally, your screen resolution should always be set to 1024x768, true color (32 bit), & a refresh rate of 60 Hz.
