I heard when you are trying to conceive you should lay still for 30 minutes after " the guys..." have been inserted. I am trying to conceive my second and I got up like 5 min after. Would you say my chances are slim? Thanks

No, gravity has nothing to do with conception.

Laying down is a myth. As soon as your man ejaculates, most of the sperm (which is thicker) sticks to the cervix and most likely already fills the cervix and part of the uterus. Most of what leaks out is seminal fluid, which contains very little sperm.

If you do elevate you hips for a while after sex, it is mostly to prevent a mess. Whatever sperm that is inside your vagina will most likely die off or never reach the egg.

If you do elevate your hips, you only need to do it for 10-15mins for the semen to coagulate and not leak as much, but make sure to use the bathroom afterwards. The act of sex can push bacteria into your urethra and urination will help flush that out to prevent UTIs.

Getting up right away or 5 minutes after sex is fine and won't effect your chances of conceiving.

Also, most women have tilted uteruses. Most are tilted forward (aka antiverted) some are tilted back (retroverted) and very few stand straight up (midplane.) Pleanty of women with tilted uteruses conceive without this method, so don't worry about it.

I don't believe you have to lay there for 30 minutes. But it doesn't hurt to lay there for 5 or 10 minutes after wards.
The minute you get up, there is sperm that leaks out that's why you have heard about lying still after wards to let more sperm swim.
Your chances aren't slim, there as good as anyone else's.
But the statistics say that women have a 26% of getting pregnant every month and if you think about it, that isn't very high.
The stat's also say the average women gets pregnant in 6 months. That one was true for me. It took exactly 6 months after my miscarriage for me to get pregnant again.
But with my two kids, it only took one month for one and 4 weeks for the other one.
Every women is different, so it takes less time or longer to get pregnant.

I don't think it's the sure way to conceive but it couldn't hurt. I do it. I usually stay up for 10-15 minutes. It does help with the mess though LOL! Once your man goes, the guys are pretty much where they need to be before the deed is even finished. Good luck!

I lay with a pillow under my bum for about 15 minutes after BDing. I was told i have a tilted uterus and this would help the sperm find my cervix better. It worked for me! I got pregnant the first month trying! Baby Dust to you!

my obgyn The #1 in Arizona did say that if you are trying to concieve it does help to lay there with a pillow under your butt and feet up on wall, does help the little suckers to get to your egg faster.. But you can easily get pregnant by even having sex standing up .. =)

I believe it helps - when I had my IUI at the RE's office they had me wait and stay laying down for 20 minutes afterwards before getting dressed. It can't hurt at least!
