I think he has a lot of self doubt inside of him, and he is afraid you are going to dump him anyway, so he is giving you a way out that he has some control and prediction over.

By telling you that he is not a hugger, and you can leave him now, he is basically feeling that you will leave him eventually anyway, and this way he can know when you do. He can be prepared for it, and try to not be as hurt.

The real question here, is do you need him to be physically attentive to you? Do you need him to give you regular hugs, and perhaps show his attention in public? If you do, and he really is not an overly demonstrative person, then it might be best if you did leave and find a young man who can fill your needs as you would fill his.

It is important to be with somebody who can meet your basic needs. If you allow yourself to settle for somebody who can't or won't meet your most basic physical and emotional needs, you will not be happy in the long run.

In the short run you do have a guy right now, but if you are not happy, you will be wasting your time. Find out what your needs are, and then find a good fit with those needs.

It takes a while to learn what it is we need in a relationship, so be patient with yourself and experiment with different types of people.

However, you know right now if you need more physicall touch, if you like to snuggle up in bed, throw your leg over him, or have him throw his over you.

Whatever needs you have it is of vital importance to your happiness and fullfillment to find a guy who fits those needs and you fit with his needs.

Good luck and much success in this situation. It does sound like he is afraid you are going to leave him, and that he cares for you enough to fear your leaving and so is giving you an opening which he has prepared and is trying to not allow himself to be more hurt.

you are young, and you have a lot of time to be confused and hurt by guys when you are older... i would say dump him and dont worry about it, and if you want a new BF get one you know is into you.

I don't get it add detail to it and explain a little and don't abbreviate its hard to read. I will come back and edit my response into a better answer if you do that so I know what to say.

He is......... an interesting dude. I think he may just be trying to tell you that if you aren't happy that he doesn't do hugs then you can. But I am not completely sure.

He has intimacy issues. Doesn't mean he doesn't love you, he just has trouble getting close to people.
