Can i keep tropical fish in heated, filterated plastic blue boxes, at around the size of 70cm by 40cm?

Thx.

i dont think you should keep a heater in a plastic box cause it may overheat.

You sure could.

For everyone:

working on the basis that the water depth would be 30cm, that's 22 US gallons.

Plenty big enough for the majority of tropical fish.

However, the blue might not be good for viewing.

Tell us which fish you'd like to keep and we can tell you whether it'd be a good size :)

EDIT: I'm scared I might be missing something here, as everyone else seems to think the tank is much smaller than my calculations! 70cm is 28 inches, 40cm is 16 inches, the 30cm guessed water depth is 12 inches? That's 22 gallons?

I'm not sure about the blue plastic but I've reared many batches of corydoras fry in the translucent/white under bed storage boxes which are a similar size but only 25cm deep.
I use them in a heated fish room but when I need higher temperatures I put a glass plate on the bottom & stick a heater to this.

If the plastic is "food quality",the populations are kept low,the filters are well cycled, the size of the boxes should be OK.
In Barcelos (Brazil), I've seen Cardinal Tetras kept in a few centimeters of water in unbelievable heat for days in plastic tubs only a little larger than yours, while they were awaiting shipment to Manaus and the wholesalers there. These were kept 400 to a container.

i dont think it would be a good idea for a container that small. how many fish do you plan on having in each box, what kind? i would suggest getting a small tank atleast to enusre the health and well-being of your fish. if you dont want your fish together you could buy some dividers.
