Also is the new Disney film about a kid who raises a sort of Loch Ness monster creature in theatres yet? What would you recommend to see this weekend? No sex/violence please, but fantasy is fine.

Hee hee -- "that Nicole Kidman film . . ." like you haven't already asked and answered a dozen and a half questions about it . . . lol.
I recommend renting a movie called "Neverwas" -- it wasn't in theaters very long, but it's a decent story -- kinda fantasyish.

The movie that Kidman is in is The Golden Compass - some of the characters are members of "The Magisterium" (a sort of evil religious group based on the Catholic Church). The film was really good, plenty of wonderful effects and fantastical realms. Great for the family with talking animals (polar bears etc.). Beware if you are religious though - this movie has taken a lot of flack for being anti-Christianity - it isn't really though and any normal individual shouldn't get caught up in this, hardly noticeable, part of the movie. It is a good fantasy film and if that is your cup of tea then I'd say go for it.

do you mean 'mr magorium's wonder emporium' (in that case, it IS nicole portman from star wars) or 'golden compass'? i've not heard of the 'magisterium' but when i googled it, what i got sounds like it would be from golden compass.
i haven't seen either, sorry, but they both look good.
