aye just reinstall your modem drivers, or go to the modem maker's website on a different computer that has net access and save the drivers to a cd/floppy/usb drive, then install'em

Usually it's not the internet that is messing with your computer, but modems can be a real problem. I would first try reinstalling the driver for you modem.
