Their biggest move was the one in which they unloaded an aging Jim Edmonds to the Padres for a prospect. That was essentially a salary dump, probably to free up money to make other moves. They also dumped So Taguchi and John Rodriguez, and failed to tender Aaron Miles.

Their only free agent signing to this point was inking D'Angelo Jimenez to a minor league deal. I'd assume they're not done at this point, but are biding their time until the right deal comes along.

EDIT - I didn't include the loss of Eckstein because I don't consider that a move or trade they made. His contract simply expired - he wasn't non-tendered or dealt. I'm happy, though, to see him on my Jays. He's not my favorite player, but he's a huge improvement offensively over John McDonald. I did forget, too, about Izturis.

they could desire to close down wood worker til next 365 days first, he's the ace. Mulder and Looper would be lower back, yet they do want a 4 and 5 starter that may win some video games no longer the 7 video games between wells (wells has been a hard success loser alot this 365 days) and reyes. Centerfield isnt the placement desiring the main progression. Edmonds remains a great shielding centerfielder, in basic terms he needs to bat decrease interior the line up, the nook ourfielder, Chris Duncan is an all or no longer something hitter like Adam Dunn, it rather is undesirable. and Ankiel grow to be called up in basic terms in time to shop the gang. the main important situation grow to be that almost each Cardinal grow to be on the DL, call a beginning pitcher, reliever, outfielder, rolen. kennedy, eckstein...they want a greater effective potential and conditioning coach... so the checklist is a potential and conditioning coach, a starter to change reyes, a brilliant bat at the back of puljos (in all risk a nook outfielder for the reason that encarnacion's occupation is all yet over) and one first rate set up guy.

The Cardinals traded Jim Edmonds to the Padres for David Freese. Cesar Izturis is their new short stop. David Eckstien is now a Blue Jay. So Taguchi and John Rodriguez are no longer Cardinals, either. That's all that I know of that has happened in the Cardinals' off-season.

Traded away Edmonds for that Padres prospect David Freese. They lost world series mvp David Eckstein to free agency, and replaced him with Cesar Izturis. Dropped So Taguchi and didnt offer a contract to Aaron Miles.

Craig S. and Brooke (above me) are correct. However, don't forget they lost David Eckstein to the Blue Jays. And, Scott Rolen has to be on his way out.

Yes they trade Edmonds for promising rookies. Next on the list is trade Pujols, Yadier, and Rolen for Sal Fasano.
