My hubby cosigned a car loan for his older brother. Brand new car. He only made one payment (late at that!). We would get letters saying the payment is late so we would call and tell him to pay, he said check is in the mail. He got 4 months behind and was not going to tell us (for some reason, we didn't get letters about it--only a phone call at the 4 mos mark). We had to pay $2k. Then he gets rear ended in the car by another family member. We live out of state and had the father drive the car up here. We asked if they still had ins on the car, he said yes. My hubby drove it the first day we had it up here and he was the victim of a hit and run. We find out the car is not insured. So now we owe $20k for the car and the damage is just under $9k. We are scared to death bc we cannot afford this at all. We have thought about letting it get repo-ed or filing bankruptcy but before all this we had been working really hard trying to improve our credit and pay down bills. We cannot sleep bc of this mess. All because we try to help someone out. No good deed goes unpunished.

Ruined me financially, yes but I won't let them ruin me personally. My integrity speaks for itself, and I won't allow the fact that I was blinded by love once to ruin my happiness forever.

yes my personnel life got ruined by a jerk who at the time i was married to . and yes my ex boyfriend ruined my credential scores.he went and got a loan and put my name on it and did not pay it back.

only temporary ruination. we all recover from the misfortune and learn and grow. Watch out for timeshare sales staff, watch out for get rich quick scemes. A fool is always parted easily from their money. Recover, get well, and live to fight another day.
