i dont know a lot about cheerleading because i am a basketball player, but one of my best friends is a cheerleader. i see the cheerleaders stretrching for a long time before they start practicing or what not. you need to stretch your legs a lot. my advice to you is to ask some of your friends that cheerlead about it. You can also look it up on the internet. look up "stretches for cheerleading" or something like that. or you can always ask the coach for ideas.

Lots of luck!

Being on the havy side has no bearing on how to be a good cheerleader. If you want to be a cheerleader you need to start with running to build up endurance. You halping out with cheerleading should know firsthand it is a lot of work. I would also work on strengthening your abs. It'll make your jumps a lot better. And definelty a lot of stretching. I would ask some of your friends to help you out with cheers. Finally, when you do go to tryout you need to have a lot of confidence. I was captain of a cheerleading squad in high school and I really didn't care about the how much someone weighed, it was about who was better. Good Luck.

drillsandskills.com has a conditioning section. Pretty much all gymnastics condition matters in cheerleading too. Try to take a tumbling class, then you can get muscular and do a back handspring for tryouts.

Get signed up for tumbling classes, and go to this site to start learning motions, jumps, and exercises to do:
