If I imagine something small like a certain episode of a tv show I want to watch and just completely forget about it, it usually comes on tv within the next couple of days to a couple weeks maximum.
However, when I am constantly imagining something I really want through visualization 10-20 mins a day, nothing happens... why? Is it because I am too attached and if so how do I just become detached from it?
Is visualization stopping me from getting what I want?
Thanks

From a metaphysical standpoint, I have noticed the same thing. After coming across books that spend a chapter or two talking about the Law of Attraction, I have determined that the longer you visualize what you want, the more energy you build up for it to come to you. Once you "forget" about it (or rather stop thinking about it), you release the energy into the metaphysical ether. The Law of Attraction kicks in at that point to bring you what you asked for.

Note of caution - it's the old adage: Be careful what you wish for.....although in this case, I guess you could say "Be careful what you visualize for yourself".

In a nutshell, visualize all you want, but you must let it go before it will come to you.

Hope this helps.

When you spend a lot of time thinking about something, I am guessing it is a somewhat larger wish or desire. If you are thinking about a show, it will eventually come on so it is not really a desire. The law of attraction doesn't work in a snap and if you have doubt within the next day or two, it will be harder to get your wish. Keep having that picture in your head and it will happen.

Hey Wimbledon123, I will try to give a light on the matter in a logical way. I just grabbed a Law of Attraction book at Indigo a few days ago and read through the whole of it yesterday & today. I have seen some interesting points as well as some more "obscure" ones.

The concept of staying positive as much as possible surely helps you in whatever you undertake or desire. The rationale: Would you rather date a depressed aloof person or a radiant charming outgoing person? Do you socialize with the grumpy negative classmate/colleague or are you more naturally attracted to an interesting charismatic person? Same goes for when you go to that job interview; if you show interest in the job, you show you will be an asset to the company by your optimistic behavior, your interviewer will be impressed (compared to a silent, bored interviewee who goes to the interview with the idea that they won't get the job).

Therefore in that sense, yes it will definitely work to keep positive as much as possible. Keep that smile on your face :0)

My biggest problem with the Law of Attraction however is the requirement for absolute absence of doubt for your desire to come to you exactly as you wish and as fast as possible. Absolute absence of doubt without proof means blind faith! I don't think blind faith in itself does good to anyone. This also always leaves room for you to think: "Well I believe in the Law of Attraction but my wish is not coming to me, therefore I must be doing something wrong!" It is a safeguard for the sellers of the idea, whether they're aware of it or not, to make you think that if it's not working, it's you.

Another logical problem I have is this constant referrence to Quantum Physics & Electronics theory to try to prove the veracity of the Law of Attraction. There's NO explanation whatsoever in the book (& nowhere on the net) as to how this is scientifically proven.

The catch here (what I believe BillyTheKid fell for) is that it doesn't mean The Law of Attraction is untrue! It hasn't been proven but it hasn't been disproven either. It could be one of those things that Science might prove in the future. The Law of Attraction is NOT altering of outside physical events by mere thought, it looks more like creating circumstances around YOU to suit YOUR desires. This is a Vital point! YOUR TRUE desires are not related to some random stranger in Ethiopia or Sicily; they are connected to YOU. YOU become influential and YOU get what YOU really desire. As much as you want your favourite team to win a game or even a season, that desire is NOTHING compared to becoming rich and getting that hot girl/man you've been thinking about for the last month, right? :) See where I'm going? It's what you REALLY wish, not mere thought... These are the claims of the writers.

Personally having just got the book, I still have to try it. Being a firm believer of positive thinking, I think it might work. I don't think however that there is as of today any way to prove the existence of the Law of Attraction...

I hope this helps dude.

Cheers

The Law of Attraction is illusionary and you are experiencing coincidence. It is the same as believing if you wear your lucky jersey, you will win the game. Even though you lose while wearing that jersey, every win will be attributed to it.

The belief that thought alone can affect external physical events is improper causal reasoning and is referred to as "magical thinking". It is the root of many superstitions. It is common in conditions involving delusion such as Borderline Personality Disorder and psychotic illness.

You have to be really careful! I was hospitalized so many
times after i learned this stuff. I think it's part of Satan's plan to lead us astray. I heard evil voices, felt evil everywhere, saw black shadows running in my room, got messages in the computer and t.v., all sorts of strange phone calls, almost died of starvation, institutionalized twice and hospitalized 4 times for anxiety. It is dangerous stuff. People even tried to kidnap me. I'm re-reading it and since I became Christian it does sound like a satanic book. I hate to say. Sorry to rain on your parade. Everything happens for a reason though. It brought me closer to Jesus and stronger against the devil and his angels (or demons).

I think that you feeling the need to ask the question means that you don't completely believe that it will happen and on a subconscious level you are being somewhat skeptical. This is what's stopping you from getting what you want.

Visulization SHOULD NOT be stopping you. It should actually be helping. The more you visulize it the faster it will attract to you. DO NOT fret about it not happening or you will atract it...not happening. One time, I imagined my granddad sending me $400 and next month.

I don't think you have it right, your subconscious is playing with you. you are really (coincidentally) finding those tv shows that you only minimally focused your concentration on.
the stuff you are concentrating super hard on is stuff you KNOW is out of touch/reach.
stop messing with yourself. go get a hobby, or a job.
