Exponent
An exponent is the power 'p' in an expression of the form 'a^p'.The process of performing the operation of raising a base to a given power is known as exponentiation.

Coefficient
In mathematics, a coefficient is a constant multiplicative factor of a certain object. For example, the coefficient of x 2 in 9 x 2 is 9.

5.67 x 10^5

This is the scientific notation for the standard number, 567 000. Now look at the number again, with the three parts labeled.

5.67 coefficient
10 base
5 exponent

In order for a number to be in correct or proper scientific notation, the following conditions must be true:

1. The coefficient must be greater than or equal to 1 and less than 10.
2. The base must be 10.
3. The exponent must show the number of decimal places that the decimal needs to be moved to change the number to standard notation. A negative exponent means that the decimal is moved to the left when changing to standard notation.

lets say y1 = a*x^n
y2 = b*exp(-x)

Y1: there are two terms , coefficient a , constant multiplier,
while n in the term x^n is the exponent

Y2 :there are two terms , coefficient b , constant multiplier,
while x in the term e^-x is the exponent
