Just be prepared to take notes, pay attention, and do all of the homework. It is actually an interesting subject if you understand it, and don't be afraid to ask questions!

Last semester I took Microeconomics and got a B.
We had no homework to do, only tests and quizzes.

It found it hard. My professor recommended that you read the book, then come to class, then read it again. I did better with going to class THEN reading the text and taking notes as I read. That way I understood what was in the book better (my class met once a week on Friday and it was three hours of listening to a monotone teacher read off a powerpoint so it was hard to pay attention to every detail). I learned everything from the book.

Then study like crazy right before a test.

And! DRAW YOUR OWN GRAPHS. Ecomonics is very graph-y and I did horrible on the first test because I looked at the graphs in the book and tried to make sense of them. I did MUCH better when I copied the graphs and made sense of then as I drew them.

Economics is one of the most useful subjects I ever studied - and it's surprisingly entertaining! I suggest you pick up a basic study guide for micro. and just learn the basics (supply, demand, equilibriums..). There are some good books around to learn a little more about the applications of economic theories. I enjoyed Freakonomics (although it won't be that helpful for your studies) it might help you get a better picture of all the uses for economic theories and studies.. and you'll go into your course with enthusiasm.

you can read basic theory - but after you get started, DO THE Homework! Don't get behind, because the work builds upon itself as you go along. You have to have the foundation.

had micro this fall, earned an A. My only reccommendation is don't just learn the theories and concepts, often you will have to graph them, so think of them in a visual graphable approach.
