Scrub them with a balled up piece of aluminum foil.
Use SOS pads.
Comet with a scrubby thingy.

This site has a neat trick... using ammonia & sealing them up in a bag... http://www.homemakingcottage.com/basics/burnerdrip.htm

they never come as clean as when you bought them i always used my oven cleaner sprayed them with that.when they get to bad and do not come clean anymore i go to the dollar store and buy four more and that helps about once a year.4 for a dollar can't beat the price.

my trendy cleansing and disinfecting and occasional value cleansing concoction is a gallon of large warm water with a cup of vinegar or slightly much less (relies upon in case you could hack it, yet you do no longer prefer plenty) and a few drops of dish cleansing soap! i exploit this on my range, motor vehicle, domicile, timber flooring, you call it!

Used to scrape and scour and scrub. But there is dirt to dig in, plants to play with, dogs that want attention. Shoot, they're cheap, I buy new.
