my computer has been acting really scetchy the past few months and i do virus/spyware checks every day. i don't know what the problem is, but i want to "start over". is there a way i can save my pictures, songs, and documents but essentially start over with the computer, as in- can i get it back to how it was when i bought it?

You would need to back up (copy over) all your files to CD or DVD. Burn them to disc. Do this for all the files, then delete the files on your system (so you know you go them). Once you have ever file backed up you would just need to re-install windows (From the Windows XP CD) onto your computer.

Burn the data that you want to save to any kind of external medium such as CDs, thumbdrives, or an external hard drive. Reinstall and then just drag the data back. It's called "Backing Up".
