Hi all, the street from where I live has a Train Tracks. Its not that high or elevated, and when you cross it, you sometimes don't feel anything at all. I drive a Honda Civic, sometimes the car in front of me are Ford Explorers, F-150 Trucks, Dodge Durango, Cadillac Escalades and the popular Humvee. What gets to me is, these vehicles which are designed for off road climbing and Mobility, literally slow down and sometimes come to a complete stop when they cross this railroad. I would be honking my horn behind them and screaming "YOUR TRUCK IS BUILT FOR THAT DUMMY!"

the best reason is because they most likely do not know how to drive their vehicle. on the side of practicality, if you do slow down and go over them at a slower speed, you are less likely to damage your tires or take the vehicle out of alignment, yes the vehicles are built to go off road. but still they are just like everything else on the road. you hit something too hard and your brake it. i'll still go with the fact they don't know how to drive.

Have you ever considered the lights at the railroad crossing might fail??? I am not a physicls gurru, but when a train hits a car, I'll bet you all I own that the car WILL LOOSE. Also, even though these vehicles are for off road use as well, these people probably do not want to take their vehicles in for wheel allignment, just to save 10 seconds at the crossing - wheel allignment is expensive and time consuming.
So next time you honk the horn at these people, catch a wake up, they might be behind you on a snow covered road where they can probably go faster than you, but they will probably not honk at you, or push you off the road - it is bad manners and unsafe.

Those folks are afraid of damaging their suv. Cars do the same thing. I have a durango and am tempted to speed up over tracks.

Maybe when you grow up, you will realize that slowing down can save money on repairs, save you a lot of pain, and that if you are not familiar with a rail road crossing going slow over a smooth one is a lot better then going fast over a rough one

hahahaha well its because most train tracks are pretty elevated and when going over them ina suv at a high speed it can be a pretty big impact because of how big it is and by it having thick tires so thats the reason they slow down

They would like to take care of thier transportation. They may not want thier stuff thrown around in thier ride since they do not know what the crossing is like.
