ahhh, Psyche and Cupid. Parts of that myth survive in the story of Beauty and the Beast.
She was a great beauty who the people began to worship instead of Venus. Venus was jealous and sent Cupid to cause her to fall in love with a very ugly deformed person. Cupid was nicked by his own arrow and fell in love with her.
below are a couple of links to two different versions of the myth

Ummm its beenm a while but if I'm not mistaken, Psyche stayed with Aphroditie and was told not to go in this one room. One night he heard noises, and went to the room with a candle. She walked in to find Cupid sleep. She thought he was so beautiful, she kept staring. Some hot wax fell from the candle on Cupid, waking him up...
That's all I remember..

When Cupid fell in love with her, he married her and took her to his palace. He only came to her at night and she didn't know what he looked like. He told her she could never see what he looks like or she'd lose him. One day her sisters came to visit. They where jealous of her happiness and convinced her that she needed to see what he looked like. So that night after he came to her and they where sleeping she lit an oil lamp. She was struck by his beauty and while she was staring, a few drops of oil fell on him. He woke and told her he would never come to her again. She was heartbroken, being in love and all. She appealed to Aphrodite, who sent her on dangerous tasks to win him back. I don't remember what the tasks where, but eventually she won him back.

Eros shoots golden arrows, which make people fall in love. Unfortunately, he pricked himself with one of his arrows and fell in love with Psyche himself.

Psyche (Latin) Her story is often confused with Greek myth, though it is actually from Apuleius's Golden ***. Her name means "soul" and is often regarded as such.
