Hmmm i think Edward is going to try his best and hold off with changing Bella for a while. I think while having her wait she is going to be so upset that Jacob will come back and they might get more romantically involved. And the war with the Vampires and Werewolves will be full blown.
Ahhh i cant think of it anymore im so EXCITED!! LOL

Well, personally I hope that Jacob fights for Bella. However, not physically fighting. At the end of Eclipse when runs off, I think he will find himself running in the direction of the wedding. There he will prove once and for all he is the better man, by not offering to fight Edward, but by offering to watch Bella marry Edward. Which she won't do, because she loves Jacob more than she could ever love Edward.
