You are so right,it is a sad fact that most will give in to flattery and temptation. I think if someone is in a good relationship where they can be sure of each other and both appreciate and tell each other how much they are loved and appreciated they are more likely to stay faithful, people seem to eager to put each other down instead of building each other up . Good for you speaking your mind if more of us did that it would help xx

I don't think promiscuity is a modern phenomenon. We are designed to want sex (if you accept darwin's selfsih gene theory). I believe it seems more prevalent now because there is less stigma and, women have more equality and aren't always branded unworthy because they have shared intimacy, or plain lust, with more than the man / men they marry. I would agree though that because society is less judgemental now that perhaps people who wouldn't have been promiscuous in the past, are now. I am married and faithful, but some of my acquaintances are very promiscuous (especially the divorced ones). If you aren't hurting anyone, do as you want, but there must be some nasty diseases doing the rounds.

Once the tap has been turned on it's hard to turn it off so to speak. Promiscuity has become the accepted behaviour by the majority. The way this will go is either people will see where things are going wrong, and celibacy and decency will prevail (unlikely) Or we will have everyone with stinking sexual diseases, nobody will be sure who their father is and brothers and sisters will be having babies together and we'll end up a nation of inbreds.

Culture is changing. Culture is always in flux. Some cultures are promiscuous, some are chaste. We have been influenced by Victorian and Christian mores. Some cultures have not. Have you ever asked yourself why much of our society seems so hung up on sex on the one hand and its repression on the other? We seem to be forever titillating ourselves then slapping back the resulting urges.

I have no idea, and I agree with you completely. Promiscuity is not cool anymore. With all the STDs out there, and then all the 'unwanted' babies being abandoned or aborted, it's completely not cool.
I also find myself wondering what it is that they lack in their lives that they feel the need to make up for it with sex.
