My 13 year old son is a guitar beginner (but an advanced drummer and cellist) and he's been learning the following songs:

Come as you are-Nirvana
Killing in the name of-Rage
Slow Ride-Foghat
Black Night-Deep Purple

You guys have a HUGE advantage because of the internet. He's constantly looking up tabs and watching online instructional videos. Keep at it! :)

learn some greenday stuff if you like their music. their older stuff is better. good charlotte has some easy songs to. those two bands have a lot of pretty simple all chord songs. blink 182 also has some easy tabs not as easy but still easy. first you should listen to them and then when you play it you willl be happier cause you'll know what song your playing. go to www.ultimateguitar.com and then just search a song or a band and it will give you options of the songs that you can get tabs by by that artist. when you get there it is easier than it sounds!! GOOD LUCK!!

Iron Man, If you are somewhat good you can play stuff like Laid To Rest, and I love Rock N Roll, Slow Ride, Hit Me With Your Best Shot, and More. If in doubt, just don't play the solo.
