I would check thrift stores such as salvation army, goodwill and other local stores in your area. I live in WV and we have what is called an ad bulletin which is a small paper that people put ads in for free when they are selling or giving away stuff. If you have something similar in your area, it is a great place to check because more people will put ads in these because they don't have to pay to do it. You might also want to check local furniture stores for scratch and dent sells. I know it sounds bad, but usually the damages are small and either in a place where you don't notice it, or can easily be fixed. If you have Big Lot stores and they have a furniture dept, they are usually pretty cheap too. Also check church rummage sales and yard sales in the spring. Lots of people will get rid of perfectly good furniture for cheap just because they got new.

Do you have a Value City Furniture near you? They have nice stuff for good prices. Also, stores will sometimes cut prices drastically for slightly damaged furniture that still in good condition.

If you are "above" going to Thrift Stores, check the local newspaper.
