I gained about 30 pounds. I was on it for 6 months and some of it was water weight. So I gained about 20 pounds. I was also home with my son (when he was just born) and not as active as I am when I work so that could contribute to it. But every time they weighed me before the next shot I was stunned. Even when I tried to diet I still gained. It was a slow gain not a massively fast one so it was deceiving. I never noticed until I was weighed. And I had just had a baby so I already had some extra on me. I wouldn't recommend it though. It wasn't the weight gain it was the mood swings. And are you using it as bc? Cause the pill is much more convenient. If your only getting it once don't worry about it. It wont do much of anything.

I gained A LOT of weight on depo. And it wasn't because of increased appetite. I was eating what I usually do and the amount I usually do and gained a LOT more weight than what I should have.

Its not just weight gain you have to worry about.

Depression, mood swings from hell (You though PMS and PMDD were bad!), and many other health risks.

The exact weight gain can vary from woman to woman. The average is about 5 pounds, but it could be more or less. I have heard that it is more like 7 to 9 pounds though.

The average weight gain is about 3 pounds. However, some people do gain more. The trick to not gaining weight is not to eat more. the weight gain is usually because people are hungry.
