BOTH! I spend most of of time alone or with children. I don't have to many conversations. When I do have one I can talk my tush off. Perhpas I am catching up???
I don't care for a catty talker or one who says absolutely nothing for over an hour even though they haven't stopped flapping, (man or woman), but its exptremely hard to speak to someone who says nothing at all. I'd prefer they spoke so I knew where they were coming from.

You generalize to much. Its funny the way you say women "yap"all the time when in fact most men ask the questions here, and they yap and rant more then any women here.

We're only driven to yap all the time when the male companion is too uninformed to carry on a conversation and we have to fill in the gaps.

No, I'm contented to be quiet for a bit.
In fact the most non-stop talker I know is my dad. He talks all the time and if he's not talking to someone, he talks to himself, hums and whistles.
I love him but it drives me nuts.

What scares you about women speaking?
Poor guy... I feel sorry for you -- your attitude and outlook will keep you longing to feel a void your entire life... -- but moreso, I pity any gf's or wife you might have someday...
Happy, fulfilled men find sharing conversations with women intriguing and interesting... and have no chip on their shoulder about the process...

Men and women are different. The reason woman talk more than men is because we have to repeat our selves over and over because men don't hear as well as women. So yes we are driven to talk all the time...by you guys!
