My aunt pays over $30.00 at Valvoline.

Does it matter?

Are they not doing something on my car?

They may be using cheaper (lower quality) filters, but most quick oil change places do that too!

Most of the difference is cost is the labor! The brothers are most likely not paying as much for labor and overhead as the Valvoline shop. They are doing the work themselves and look at it as a way to get you in the door, and maybe be able to sell you other needed repairs! They may also be looking at the situation as "it is better to make a little profit, then sit here and do nothing and make no profit"

The franchised shop has more expenses. They are paying for the name, and a percentage of the revenue must be paid to the head office! They also most likely have higher costs for labor, seeing as the ownership is usually not doing the work!

A higher price does not always mean a better job!

Changing oil is not a hard job you drain it out put on a new oil filter and your done ...usual if i dont do it myself ,and take it in, i buy my own air filter you can get a good one @ murrays or autozone for 10 bucks when they could be using a cheaper one. Also with the other company its probably because of the oil they use usualy service stations will say what oil they usally on the sticker or on a banner in the shop. But chances are your paying more for the pennsoil sticker unless she gets sintheic oil which is better (small shops generally use conventional) but senthetic is usualy double the price as conventional. If you dont trust them than dont go there and take it to sears or a reputable place but you will be paying more.

You are getting the same service as your aunt, but she might be getting better oil. They have full synthetic, and synthetic blend oils which are better for your engine and improve the oil life from 3,000 to 5,000. Other than that, most shops give cheaper oil changes to bring you in as a customer so they can do other service work for you at a later time.

That's a good deal. There is a goodyear that charges 15.99 right around the corner from me. Your aunt is over paying.

What are you trying to say? That Asian people is not doing the same work as Valvoline? Your Aunt is ignorant for not browsing around trying to find a good deal for an Oil Change. Let me break it down for you:

Oil Filter - $ 4.99
5 Quarts of Oil - $ 5.00
------------------------------------------------
Total - $ 9.99

The only thing these Asian Brothers are doing your car, is not only giving you an Oil Change, but also saving you money.

Talk about putting your foot in your mouth. You should have phrased it the first time as a Mom and Pop Business, but a little bit too late. Like Bill Clinton saying "I did not inhale."

No, they are changin oil and filter. That is what an oil change is. Most places are $13 - 20. Valvoline is a rip off.

Yes! You're paying cheaper than your aunt for the same service.

Just because a business charges a cheaper price, that does NOT means the service you got is inferior.

Your probably not getting quality oil and filter, or they just don't make anything off of an oil change. Its one of those two.
