In India, Indian Christian Marriage Act, 1872 provides a Christian can marry another Christian or a non Christian in the Church by the Pastor authorized to perform such marriage & such marriage will be legal & valid. The only problem in such marriage is that such marriage will not get registered under this Act nor you can get marriage certificate for such marriage, as the Act clearly provides for the purpose of marriage & its certificate both the parties should be Christian. Secondly for such marriage between a Christian & a non Christian, it all depends on the Pastor to perform such marriage or not as he too has to follow the Christian Dictum/Rules as provided by the Bishop & other high Christian officials, under whom he works & follows the Church rules & regulations. The other way for both of you is to get married under the Special Marriage Act,1954 before the Marriage officer without either of you converting, also known as Court Marriage. After this marriage if you want to celebrate such marriage according to religious form, go ahead, but your marriage preformed before the marriage officer will only be held as legal & valid not the other religious marriage, which will be nothing more then social drama to satisfy all your family members & friends. As far getting married according to Hindu form of marriage that will not be legal & valid between a Hindu & a Christian without the Christian converting to Hinduism. Conversion to Hinduism is conducted by Arya Samaj Mandir by Shudhi Ceremonies & they issue a certificate regarding this conversion which will be required for getting the Hindu Marriage Registered under section 8 of the Hindu Marriage Act,1955.This is a brief legal aspect with regard to such marriage.

Not necessarily. There are lots of mixed religion couples in this world; you just have to be respectful and very deliberate about accomodating each other.

Consider contacting a Unitarian Universalist minister for help with the ceremony. You'll find a UU to be open minded and creative about such things.

It is not necessary. But the law, accepts the parental religion for heirs.
I would suggest, You convert to hinduism and let your lover to convert to christianity. This requires mindset change and not a ceremonial change. This will create a strong bondage on your new life.

FYI, Hinduism doesnt support ceremonial conversion. Because every religion is acceptable to Hinduism.

You might. You should consider a civil ceremony or a neutral "religion" to please both sides.

His family will eventually shun you both. Inter faith marriages are VERY difficult to work through if both are devout.
