I just washed 2 loads of clothing and they all came out dingy and streaked with grey stuff. There weren't any pens in pockets or anything like that and I can't find anything in my washing machine or my dryer.

Everything went through the dryer so are they stained like that now?? Is there a way to get out the stains if they are stuck in there?

Should I wash more clothes or will they come out stained, too?!

I'm really stressed out because I just had a baby not too long ago so only a few shirts fit me right now and ALL of them were in the load of laundry that came out ruined so I have nothing to wear to my doctors appointment, and my baby's clothes were in it too and they are also ruined and she also has an appointment today so needless to say I'm a bit overwhelmed right now!!!

I had this same problem I couldn't figure out how my clothes were getting dirty from washing them. Try rewashing them quickly and when it is time to put them in the drier check each garment for the marks. If they are clean I would check the drier out. My drier was coming apart and leaving streaks of grease on everything. I did not think my drier was the problem until caught all my socks on fire. So I would check out the drier first!

When you had the baby, I am sure some of your friends said, If there is anything I can do to help. Now is the time! Call a friend and have them bring you a clean shirt or come over and watch the baby while you take a long hot bath. Relax and realize this stress will pass. Make yourself calm down, with help of friend and then rewash the clothes, was something new in the wash that maybe the dyes bled off? Get a friend to watch the baby while you relax for awhile and then things will seem better!

That does sound very strange, but don't fret. There are much more important things on which to expend energy.

Grey stuff, huh? I can't think of anything that would do that, other than grease. If it is a front-loading washer, the black rubber gasket can leave marks on clothes, but only if they are closed in the door when it starts. It won't leave the marks on EVERYTHING.

Try one of the "As seen on TV" things, like OxyClean. Typically, though, in my experience once dried in that's that.

That's happened to me before. I ended up making a trip to the store for more clothes before the appointment. I didn't have anyone to ask for stuff.

Try re-washing everything and add a color safe bleach. I don't know what could have caused it. Maybe you should do a load of 3 or 4 towels and see if it happens to them.

Sounds like it may be your washer. Try washing rags and see if it happens again. Wear one of your hubbys shirts to the doctor. P.S. Don't wash your babys clothes with yours, her clothes should be rinsed twice at least.
