Aged about 14, I occasionally bought women's clothes from charity/second hand stores and used to secretly wear them and use mother's old lipsticks, hoping she would not notice.

I only dressed for about two years and haven't done it since.

However, before I quit doing it she sympathetically approached me one afternoon, saying she'd noticed a few items of clothing in my room, promised to tell nobody and if I wanted a chat or help with anything she'd understand.

I denied they were mine and said they belonged to a friend and although it was obvious I was lying, she accepted it and nothing was said since.

I know not all mothers/sisters/aunts would be so sympathetic,
so how would you react?

My wife loved it when she found out that I was into cross-dressing, plus & had a couple of girlfriends over the years that loved to dress me up as a girl & wear their clothes.

Oh dear, it's a tricky subject.

I wouldn't cross dress, I don't find it attractive. That said, I have no objection to putting on a dress to make a spectacle of myself - fun is fun =)

There are a lot of similar issues, which I won't go into, but I have something like it.

So I would be sympathetic. And I'd poke fun, because I'm like that. But I wouldn't mean it.

"It takes all sorts." Very true.

well, it kinda depends on how much better you looked in my skirt than I did! LOL!!

So, why did U stop? Peer pressure? Decide pantyhose weren't THAT comfortable? Make up leaves residue on the pillow? High heels hurt your feet?

- man-oh-man.. I wish I could stop! oh yeah, I'm a tomboy.. and I wear flannels and t-shirts and boots w/ jeans.. um, nevermind.

seriously... IF I had a male relative that came out as a crossdresser... not a problem! There are SO many worse habits to have!! I'd share my girlie stuff!!

I'd be totally cool with it. Hell, I'd probably ask if you wanted to go shopping sometime.

We each have things that make us comfortable and as long as they don't cause harm to other people, then why chastise someone for it? As far as I can tell, the only harm crossdressing can do is stretching out someone else's clothes if they don't fit properly.

I"m just sorry that society makes it seem like crossdressing is something evil and makes those who like to do it feel wrong.

She just wanted to strike up the conversation in hopes that you were ready to talk about it since perhaps it had a strong effect on her. I'm not saying she's upset, on the contrary she sounds to be more on wanting to hear your side and understand where you stand now in contrast with where you stood back then.

Good Luck!

That was extremely understanding of your mother and I applaud her for her acceptance. I don't know if I would have approached someone who was cross-dressing since honestly it's none of my business, but I would not be upset, I mean it's not hurting anyone.

It wouldn't bother me in the slightest.
I'm female, but as a teen I used to wear my fathers clothes. (He had a great line in 70's shirts ;-) )
I really can't see the problem and wonder why it is ok for girls to wear boys clothes, but not the other way around?

It wouldn't bother me (unless it was my husband, that's a different matter). But, if it was another male relative, it really wouldn't make any difference to me what they did. It would be like telling me you enjoy ice cream. I'd support them all the way.

I'd been very understanding. I'm not sure how I'd feel if like my husband wanted to dress like that, but I'd try to understand what was going through there head. I'm not quick to judge anyone.
