someone i know has informed me that a company did not hire him based on a goolged search and its results. that it showed he lacked maturity. is he full of it?

It happens since some use their name and do stupid things online.

First time I am hearing of this. There are better avenues to do a search on people, many of which are quite expensive. I believe most companies use such services (example Choicepoint) for checking people's purported credentials, criminal backrounds, etc. than relying on Google which will only provide a small (and mostly irrelevant from the Company's perspective) background of a person.

Myspace is one of the best screening tools in my opinion, sometimes just as good as an interview (but obviously not in place of an interview.) People put anything and everything on their myspace accounts.

yea it happens. It happened to my cousin when she was looking for a job. her facebook account was looked at and her myspace so she didnt get the job...
