Yes. And I thank god I live in a country where it is.

I live in the UK and work in the NHS (our universal health care system). It has problems, but not as many as the US healthcare system has. Despite spending much more per head of population than other developed countries, the US has worse health outcomes. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Health_care#Economics Life expectancy and infant mortality figures in the US are worse than in other developed countries, despite more money being spent (and wasted) in the USA.

In the UK there are waiting lists for routine problems. Problems that can not wait are treated as emergencies. Also, in the UK, people can also have private health care.

I can understand Americans being proud of living in the richest and most powerful country in the world. What I can not understand is why Amercians settle for an expensive healthcare system where babies die that would have a better chance of life if born in another developed country.

So what's your alternative?

Seriously. I don't want to see socializedd medicine in America either. But our health care system is broken and must be reformed.

And to date, the only suggestions are coming from the liberal end of the political spectrum. If conservatives don't want socialized medicine--then they damn well need to start coming up with some policy proposals. Real ones--not horror stories about social medicine. Not political slogans. Not ideology. We need real ideas for real changes.

I'm sick of hearing how terrible cons think socialized medicine is. WHAT'S YOUR ALTERNATIVE? Either start coming up with some real ideas--or don't complain when we all get stuck with govenment-run health care because none of you bothered to stop whining long enough to develop some real policy proposals.

Two months ago, I was given a provisional diagnosis of having cancer. I'm still waiting to get seen. I'm retired military and have government run health care.

No. However, some kind of safety net in the mold of Social Security would be appropriate.

No I do not. Our Government has shown that they suck in the medical field. Look at the VA.
