As I was driving into work this morning in my 72 El Camino hooptie (got 1 hubcap cause 3 got stolen) I overheard talks that Michigan QB Ryan Mallett would probably be transferring because new coach Rich Rodriguez would bring in a his own players, including a QB.

IF this is true... Where shoud the tall dude go?! ESPN Radio speculated a SEC team like Arkansas, or LSU... What college team has the want and need for someone like Mallett?

I watched this kid play against my high school football team (Copperas Cove vs Texarkana) and this kid has a rocket for an arm! I would luv to see him go to Texas and replace a weak Colt Mccoy.....but I think he would be smart to go to an SCC team...We won the game btw....lol

I think it depends on one thing, Terrell Pryor's college decision. If Pryor were to head to Michigan, Mallet will need to transfer because I doubt he'll see the playing field otherwise, but if Pryor doesn't Mallet will be THE guy in Michigan next season so he needs to stay put.

As for where he should go, there are a large number of teams that would be glad to have someone as talented as Mallet. Knowing that he'll have to sit out next season if he transfers, he could really look to go just about anywhere because their are few schools that have solid freshman or sophomore QBs (Tebow doesn't count since he's most likely off to the NFL after next season).

I guess that question should be formatted into a statement. It doesn't matter if Mallett bails on UofM.

I seen him play every game...He is no Chad Henne. This kid could go either way in my eyes. Washout to WOW! But so far he has shown nothing. Who cares how far and fast you can throw a football if you lack control and telegraph even a 2' pass?

Lets ask his wide receivers what they think of him. Manningham and Arrington are better judges than all of us.

All I know is, I look forward to the spring game, and LETS GO BLUE!

I agree with the statement that it depends on whether or not Terell Pryor signs with Michigan, and whether or not Rodriguez tries to implement his spread offense in his first year there.

Michigan is definately not designed for a spread type of offense right now. It might take a year of recruiting his style of players before they are able to make that switch. Maybe a WVU fan could enlighten us on how soon he made the switch upon arrival at WVU.

As for Mallet, he is definately a good QB, but definately not the type of QB that fits a spread offense. Considering he would have to sit out a year, He would be best off looking at a school who would need a QB in two years.

Although, I would welcome him with open arms if he decided to go to Penn State.

Hmmm. I don't know about this one. He has shown his potential AND his weaknesses. And there are many of those.
Who would want him? IDK. I think he'd get creamed by any decent defense in the SEC. He'd be safer to transfer w/in the Big Ten if he ever wants to see the center's rear end again. If he's okay being a bench warmer (and I mean 3rd string), then he could go to the Pac 10 or Big12.

Probably a pro style offense instead of one of the gimmick offenses. That's why he is leaving because the spread offense run at West Virginia will be the new offense at Michigan.

Have him transfer to FSU. We need players who can throw the ball. I'm hoping that maybe he can replace Weatherford because we have to go through another year with him.

He'll probably transfer, and I assume he'll go somewhere nice if he can, somewhere like USC or UCLA or any Florida school (Miami needs a QB). He'll be totally fine, so don't worry about him.

i think it depends on whether terrelle pryor signs with the team or not. if he does then i don't think mallet gets much pt. so i think it would be in his best interest to transfer. (alabama or florida could be good fits)

he won't really get play time, and they will be using converting to a whole new offense so he might as well.
