It's perfectly safe as long as your water hasn't broken. Also, when you're closer to your due date the prostoglandins in your hubby's sperm can help to ripen (soften) your cervix.

Although, just as a heads up, some doctors warn that sex should be avoided if you've passed your mucous plug, as the mucous plug acts as a barrier to bacterial contamination, and having sex after it has come out may expose mom and baby to infection. My doctor never said anything about that to me when I was pregnant, but I had read some things about that and was always a bit watchful to make sure I hadn't lost my plug yet.

My hubby and I went on 'doing it' until just the day before I was induced at 42 weeks! Enjoy eachother now, because it gets real hard to find time for 'intimate moments' once the baby is born!

It is perfectly safe i was 36 weeks along with twins and 4 cm dialated and was told i could continue sex it may even help to put you into labor on time alot of people start to dialate around 36 weeks and more people than will admit continue to have sex but if you and your man are uncomfortable talk to your obgny and see what he/she says

Its fine.. Your DR will tell you when to stop being intimate. I've been at 2cm for 3 weeks....nothing has changed for me so if you actually feel like having sex with your husband, go for it. You are in the final month...as you become more miserable you may end up using your hubby for "get this baby out of me sex". Sperm (semen - whatever) has something in it that helps thin the cervix. I think its oxytocin but I'm not sure... i promise here soon, you are going to want your cervix to be thinning. So until your water breaks or DR says stop, and u want to engage....sex away.

Sheesh, don't listen to some of these people as they don't know what they are talking about. It's perfectly fine to have sex after you have started to dilate. Up until your water breaks you can feel 100% safe about it unless your doctor tells you otherwise. There is no risk of infection until your water breaks. It also does help you contract, thus helping you dilate more and prepare your body for labor. Good luck and Congrats on your little one!

Yes. You can actually have sex up until the day you deliver, UNLESS, your Dr. advises otherwise. Let your husband know that he can't hurt the baby and the worst that can happen is you'll go into labor.

I did with my last pregnancy. It didn't hurt anything. I was told it could speed up labor, but make sure you ask your doctor just to be sure. They come out with new finding all the time. Good luck! I am 32 weeks pregnant with my third child and a nervous wreck!

I'm looking at from your husbands point of view, and agree with him. It's nice that you still want it, and you know your not going to want it for at least a month after the birth.
Are you trying to pleasure him? If so there are other methods he could implement for his own eh...release

Yep. Its perfectly safe, baby is protected by the bag of waters still. once that breaks you'll be in labor and wont want to have sex :)
