This woman is nothing short of amazing! She has so much knowledge and wisdom- I can sit and listen to her for hours and hours tell me stories, sometimes the same ones, but each time there is something new, like how she 'beefs' up her garage sales with simple little things (rooted cuttings of plants, homemade jewelery gift boxes from old greeting cards, selling hot dogs and lemonade) and how she makes her own bird feed suet (truly amazing!) to attract specific beneficial birds to the area, how she saves used dryer sheets to line the bottom of planter boxes so the soil doesn't eek out, and amazing food from using almost nothing!
She "pish tosh" 's me when I tell her she should write a book... What can I do to convince her to write a book! She's very active and even still camps- RUSTIC! I want to be her when I grow up!!!!

start writing her stories down, and get a tape recorder if you need it.
Then, YOU print up her stories, and give her the first copy!
If she sees her wisdom and humor in print, she may be compelled to write some on her own. If she's still not persuaded, at least you have some of her best already committed to print!

Listening to our elders is one of my favorite things in life. I've learned a lot from listening to them. Take notes of all you learn and write the book of Grams Knowledge or How To Keep From Being Bored After Retirement or Helpful Hints For The Young. Tell her we are waiting!
Once you get all of her handy ways written down, type it out and show her what she has to share with the world. When she passes, then you'll have something to pass on down the line for many more years. It will be a great shared mark left on this world.
I am the same way with everything I come across. It's fun to look at an item and create something out of it. Once I made a flower garden just out of trash that had been dumped in the woods. Everyone was amazed at how beautiful it turned out with the added wild flowers.
I love making a meal out of leftovers or open the cabinet and fabricate a new dish. None have names, but sure do taste good and some unusual.
It takes a long time to get a book written, I know, I'm still working on mine for six yrs now. So please get started, I would definitely buy one.......

Don't ask her to write a book, ask her to share her knowledge with you, then you write the book. Get a recorder or video camera, let her know you want to record her for her great, great grandchildren someday as well as journal about how much she teaches you.

I agree with both of their answers. Older women, no matter how active, love company. I'm sure if you came over and had her chat away while you took notes or recorded she would love it. Better yet, when it comes time to write it, do it as corraboration. Have her help you edit, etc. She would the one on one time with you. :)

Get a tape recorder because a lot of old people cant see well enough to write a lot.Why not get a tape recorder and tapes and she can talk into it and then you can help put it on paper.

I'd love to meet her. She sounds very like my gram.
You could write down the stories and ask her to edit them. she sounds too busy to stop having fun and sit to write.
Tape record conversations - video!
"I'd like to be her when I grow up!!!" Beautifully said. Think her secret is she will never suffer "growing up" and keeps learning, staying young. CAMPS!!

Maybe you can write a book from her stories or about her life. She would probably feel very honored.
