Honda CR?
The L/H Kick was '78 thru '83,I beleive
VIN/Serial Number is tricky because the Format changed during that timeframe.
'78 Began with CR250R-2000010
These had a push-thru front axle.
Single Downtube Frame with exhaust off-center of cylinder.
'79>CR250R-2100006
these had a 4-bolt clamp from axle.
Same Frame/Exhaust as '78
'80> ME03-2001031 (Transition Style Serial Number)
These got a new frame style,,Twin Front Downtube with Exhaust in Center of Cylinder
'81> JH2ME0303BC3000025 (New Style Serial Number)
These are the 1st Water-Cooled CR250's
Also the 1st monoshock "PRO-LINK" rear suspension
'82> JH2ME0300CC400021
I "THINK" '81 and '82 are "the same",,,no major changes
Just some cosmetic stuff?
But I'm not certain
'83> JH2ME0301DC500030
These got the gawdaaful BLUE Seat,,
and Rear Drive Chain was on R/H side(all the others were l/h)
'84 went back to R/H side Kickstart lever
.......................................
VIN/Serial numbers are on a "tag" on the steering head of the frame.
If that tag is gone/damaged/illegible,,,it's also Stamped into the frame at that area.
Engine Number and Frame number have approx the same number.
Your Numbers will be "somewhere BETWEEN" the starting number of whatever 2 years' numbers listed above.
Yours will be in that Range.
Usually easiest to determine year by Features
There's enough distinction between the years to be fairly certain.
on 78's,,it's Possible to have had a different fork fitted over the years,,,but not very likely
You Should be able to find almost anything you may need for any of those,,,they were popular and lots of them are still in service.
Something may require buying either used,or aftermarket.
Good Luck,hope that helps

1973 was the first year for the CR250 from 73' to 77' it had a right side kick. Then from 78' to 83' it had a left side kick(Elsinore CR250R) I just called my local Honda shop to check on parts for this bike and they are available.
Good Luck

I would get the VIN number off of it and call up the dealership with that info. Look under the bars on the steering tube (or what ever its called). You may want to clean it it first, it will make finding the VIN a lot easier.
