correpondence simply disappears! Lost one personnal parcel and another came damaged over christmas. Rang the post office and was treated like $h1t! I work in an office and the theme repeats over and over. i'd say 1 out of 10 items gets lost. During the postal strike i'm absolutly positive they were burning post and it looks like that when the backlog gets too much, they just dig a hole and bury it! When will this be brough up inthe new? How can simple services in britain (post, public transport and health) be such a C0CK UP for the last few years??

i work for the royal mail and i totally agree with you. its an embarrasment to work for the company now. i think your question can be answered quite simply....and that is that the goverment of the moment has completly torn the **** out of every public service and stiffed it to the point where its struggling to survive. during the postal strikes the general public have no idea just how close royal mail came to going under. morale at my office in kent is rockbottom and while we all work hard to ensure people get a good service from us, its difficult when we've got nothing to do it with. the big chiefs are raping this company, and mark my words, there won't be a royal mail in ten years. it'll be sold off and broken up like british gas, british rail and so forth. its a sinking ship... which is a shame as 99% of us actually care about the place and try our very best with customerservice. its a shame. thanks tony blair and mr brown, what you gonna pillage next i wonder?

I've had a few problems with the Royal Mail over the last couple of years, like mail delivered to the wrong house or never delivered at all. Whenever I order anything by special delivery I always make sure I have nothing to do for the whole day, because not once has my parcel ever arrived before 1!
I also have a problem with the red 'sorry, you weren't in' cards, I seem to receive them even if I am in, either because the postman can't be bothered to wait 10 seconds for me to open the door, or he doesn't even knock the door to start with!

you need to get your facts right about this and actually find out whats what. all that carry on with packets etc had nothing at all to do with royal mail. they forcast correctly what they had to deliver and actually overcompensated, the other delivery firms kept taking more and more work and when they found out they couldn't cope they threw it all over to the royal mail using what is called downstream access. if you look at any mail and it has an s on it you will know it has come from another firm. there is no way royal mail could have legislated for other people orders. and they are legally bound to take them because of the licence arrangements. to throw so much work onto royal mail in the last few days of Xmas was a disgrace. of course they are an easy target for the media. the other carriers must be laughing. nothing comes back on them despite it being their fault. and yet again the gullible public fall for it all. when we eventually get someone in royal mail with backbone enought to tell the government and post watch etc to fcuk off and make other firms play on a level playing field perhaps some justice will be done and people will see the truth,

Yes, I live in the basement flat of a "One up- One down" and would only get my mail if I go and ask my neighbours upstairs even though our flats are clearly marked "A" and "B" and the letters are addressed correctly yet our postman cannot be bothered to walk down the stairs. I bumped into the postman the other day and he said that from now on he would deliver my mail correctly- which he does but now upstairs have to come get there mail from me!

No. The postal service in my area is above fault.
Always on time and always reliable, don`t tar them all with the same brush.
You`ve got a real bad chip on your shoulder.

Yes I agree but I do not blame the workers. This government is determined to destroy the Royal Mail, it wants it sold off asap and is being aided and abetted by those at the top of the service.

to be honest, it doesn't keep me awake at night. ok, it may be relatively bad, and i don't want to rain on your parade, but (at the risk of mixing my metaphors) there are bigger fish to fry in terms of global issues, and you are drowning.

get back to me when half the world is starving/melting/drying up/being chopped down/consumed by their own raw sewage.

oh, sh1t. it's already happening.
