I just tell them, any day not doing hard time and constantly having to worry about picking up the soap in the shower is a good day.

LOL Good question!
Because I don't see myself like that. Yes, there's a possibility that I might end up in that situation, but what's the point of wanting to be where you are today? Were I 100% content with my life, then I'd probably say that this is how I see myself in 5 years. Since I'm not and since I always strive for better, I see myself in better light in the years to come.
And no, I'm not a liar. How is wishing something better for yourself and working on that goal a lie?

I told one lady during an interview that I saw myself as "beer taster" for Miller Brewing in 5 years. I had a decent job already, and it really didn't matter if I got the one I was applying for, so I was being a smarty pants. That woman laughed so hard she almost peed. I'm not sure if that helped me get the job or not, but it sure made the interview less stressful.

LOL..that is hilarious. Nobody wants to admit that they might STILL be a loser in 5 years. It's just like new year's resolutions..It gives us all hope that "this year" is the year I'm gonna change...______insert random goal here. haha. I think we all try to be optimists, but our good intentions fall to the wayside because we get lazy. :)
Happy New Year!! hahaha

Maybe its beacuse we do see a future for ourselves or we just dont want to face reality that we really arent going to be much more than we are right now. I would never say that Im going to be less in 5 years than I am now.

nobody really wants to think that in 5 years they aren't better off! we all want to best in the future! no one is going to say something they dont want to happen, then you would have nothing to reach for

LOL! I don't think I became any of those things in the last five years... except maybe the 30 pounds heavier thing (dammit).
