Fundamentalism is the belief in the original form of a religion or theory, without accepting any later idea
If you refer someone as a fascist, you are expressing disapproval of the fact that they have extreme views on something, and do not tolerate others' views.

The word Fascist is taken from Benito Mussolini's political movement in the early 1900's. The movement's symbol was a bundle of rods that surrounded an ax. It was known as a faces. His form of government was a centralized dictatorship that suppressed his opposition through terrorism and censorship combined with racism and extreme nationalism. All subsequent governments that ruled in a similar way have since been called fascist governments, so one that would rule in this manner would thus be classified a fascist.

Fundamental is really another word for basic or primary. With regards to government it's following the basic beliefs or principles of the system.

Fundamental
As an adjective means: forming a necessary base or core; of central importance.
As a noun means: a central or primary rule or principle on which something is based
However, I'm taking a guess that you might want to know about the political term "fundamentalist" b/c you also asked about "facist", sooo...
Fundamentalist: can mean different things depending on who you talk to, but it is most often used to describe narrowly defined set of beliefs that developed into a movement within the US Protestant community in the early part of the 20th century. (for more see the link below)

A fascism (and a fascist being someone that identifies with this group) is an authoritarian political ideology (generally tied to a mass movement) that considers individual and social interests subordinate to the interests of the state or party. Fascists seek to forge a type of national unity, usually based on (but not limited to) ethnic, cultural, racial, and religious attributes. (On a side note, many people often refer to Hitler as a communist, when he was actually a fascist.)

Both terms tend to cary a negative connotation in American culture. Both are seen as too extreme.

I hope this helps!

A fundamentalist is someone who believes in the fundamentals of something. The term is most commonly applied to religions. Take Christianity. There are those who read the Bible as the literal truth, and those who read it more as an allegory, and people who read it somewhere in-between. The more on the "literal truth" end of the scale you are on, the more "fundamentalist" you are. There are "fundamentalist" Islamics too; I suppose other religions as well.

Fascism is an extreme conservative political view. It involves you thinking that you are right in spite of any and all evidence to the contrary. It involves the suppression of any opposing views, even with extreme measures (i.e. killing anyone who says any different). Fascism is totalitarian. Nazi Germany was Facist, however, Mosoulini's Italy is probably more stereotypically "Facist".

I think fascist derives from the name of the ceremonial axe that Imperial Rome used as the symbol of ruling authority. It then became associated with Mussolini's ultra Nationalist, strong arm politics.
