The best thing to do is refresh your computer, if it doesnt work restart it.If you shut it off or restart it, the worst that could happen is that it wont save your previous settings or changes.Either your computer had too many programs running at once or your memory is too full which slows it down and eventualy freezes it.If you've been playing on the internet the possibility is always there that you downloaded a virus through a email or a site.My computer at work always freezes bacause it's over run, doing too much at once. You computer needs time to process each request to give it time to finish before ou continue.Shut it off manualy and start over.

First of all, do not panic. Computers "freeze" all the time. As the other people have said, simply powering it off manually will not destroy anything. Some files will be dumped elsewhere but that can easily be remedied by running your performance and maintenance and defragging. The next time it happens, simply choose restart - no problem.

Finally, one of the problems is that you're using Windows Vista. Do people like it - not so much.

-press the power button for 5 seconds (this will shut it down)
-wait a while before you turn it back on
-after about 20 minutes turn it back on
-be patient with it
-see if your music files are still ok
-go back onto the internet

if you are still having problems then ring the manufacture or the store that sold it to you and then ask about the problems, and if it is defected and this is your first ear of having it then they will replace it

your internet service provider does not have anything to do with this because its a problem with the laptop and the browsers, not the web
