Just getting back to school majoring in Business Admin. Haven't been in school for 20 years now and trying to find an online program that fits my schedule.

Hi,

I am in their associates degree program for Accounting. Their AA program is not that expensive; as a matter of fact, it is about the same price as UMUC (University of Maryland University College, an online degree program and a division of University of Maryland). The BS/BA degree is double the amount of the AA program, which is why I have opted to transfer to UMUC, since I am a resident of Maryland, to complete my BS. However, if you are not a resident of Maryland, then your tuition for being out-of-state is about the same as the University of Phoenix.

I think that is why the school is so high. There are a lot of people that attend from out-of-state and do not realize, that they are paying out-of-state tuition.

I actually enjoy the classes. They transfered in 16 out of 31 credits I had from a community college I attended over 10 years ago.

So, I guess it all depends on the person. But for me, it works!!

Stay away from the commercial enterprises like this if you can possibly help it. They aren't very good, and aren't respected by many employers. If you just need a credential for your current employer, you might be okay, but if you plan to go on the job market after getting your degree, you would be disappointed. If you must do a distance learning program (and there are a lot of schedule options for other types of programs which might be preferable), do one through a respected university. A number of them are supplementing their enrollments through distance learning, and your degree would be indistinguishable from one earned by a student attending brick-and-mortar classes.

I would stay away from "for profit" universities. If you are going back to school for a BS in business there are several state and private colleges that offer on line bachelors in business.

University of Baltimore http://ubonline.edu
University of Maryland University College http://www.umuc.edu/programs/undergrad/bus_mgmt.shtml

Penn State University http://www.worldcampus.psu.edu/degrees.shtml

and many other schools that are not "for profit", reputable, and cheaper

What do you want to do? What is your major? If you can get in to any other state system or UC system on line..you will save some money. University of Phoenix is private and charges arm and leg for one unit course.
