Good for you! I know several pessimists that can see the same situation as an optimist and turn it into misery while the optimist sees something positive. Pessimists are no fun to be around! Bad things will still happen and things will still make you sad or angry, but by choosing to have a positive outlook, you will handle the situations better and be a happier person to be around. Once again I say....good for you!

Yes, changing negative thoughts can help make situations become more positive.

Quite a few therapy techniques have demonstrated this over the past few decades. One is called Nero Linguistic Programming (NLP) that uses various techniques.

One technique for changing negative thoughts is called re-framing. (Frame = frame of reference) One way of looking at this is that an event has no meaning on it's own. It just it. People give it meaning according to their beliefs, values, preoccupations, like and dislikes. In other words, the meaning of an experience is dependent on the context.

Reframing is changing the way you perceive an event and so changing the meaning. When the meaning changes, the response and behaviour changes also.
There’s some info on NLP here.

There are many books about NLP. Your bookstore or library should be able to help you.

Other counselling techniques that help with negative thoughts are known ‘cognitive’ therapies. Again there are many books and websites devoted to these.

Yes, negative thoughts paint everything negatively. It commands your perception and pollutes your physical body as well. Pessimists indeed bring More misery on themselves.
You need to be as optimistic as possible because you are so correct, life Is what you make it (and how you see it). Perception is All.

At the end of our lifetime the pessimist may have been right all along, but the optimist had a much better journey on the way.

Yes, life is what you make it. A positive outlook, and optimistic frame of mind, a happy countenance and relaxed demeanour will draw good fortune to you. Smile regardless of whether there is anything to smile about, it triggers the brain to release happy chemicals, so sending out smiles to the worll will, literally be its own reward.

Be Loved and Prosper.

Just be yourself and do things that you enjoy...

I'm actually someone with lots of negative thoughts and my teacher always tell that to my mother... =.=

But if you view it in another way, they are not negative, in fact I'm just saying the facts like for example, We will all die one day, why bother so much? etc. It's the truth and it's human nature that they don't like listening to the truth...

Just do what you think is right and not what others think is right...

Yes, I believe it does. You should read/watch The Secret. What do you have to lose by being more positive in your life? 2008 could be a great year for you!

I think negative thinking people create their own negative world! There is always a positive within a negative if you look hard enough for it :o)

Guilty here. I love to rant in front of the TV, only to end up being told off for being a miserable sod. Action and consequence.
