I have just bought a new washing Machine and been Offered an Extended Warranty for £190 for 5 Years Protection against breakdown. It also gives New for old for life if it is beyond economical repair. Would you take out Extended Warranty?

I now don't take out extended warranties for two reasons:

1. The cost of replacing the item is about the same as the cost of the warranty, and there is no certainty that you will need to make a claim in the five years.
2. These warranties often have a number of get out clauses, which you find out about when you make a claim, things like "I'm sorry, but that part isn't covered" or "We aren't going to entertain this claim because we think the machine is broken because of your negligence".

Imagine how you'd feel if your claim was refuted, or how you'd feel if the machine broke down after five years and three months. You'd do much better to take your £190 and tuck it away in a high interest account somewhere that you could withdraw it IF you needed to buy another washing machine or pay for a repair.

Remember that the machine is already guaranteed by the manufacturer for at least the first year anyway, so you're paying for nothing to start with.

I wouldn't recommend spending money on extended warranty, sales assistants get commission for every one they sell its in there interest that's why they will try very hard to get you to part with the extra money. Chances are by the time you need it you will have lost the all important papers required to make a claim or the part that goes wrong wont be covered and out of all the people i know who have taken out extra cover non have needed it and could have spent the money on something that they did, if your worried put the $99 into a repair fund or use the $99 towards the cost of a new one if it does go wrong. A lot can happen in two years you might move house and not take your 2 year old ( out of date ,wrong size wrong colour) washing machine with you

My washing machine is 20 years old and still going strong...I remember the repairman being here once for a $35 repair

No, I definitely wouldn't. The machine is new and therefore there is no reason why it should become faulty in the first few years. It is later on that the washing machine could have problems and by then the warranty would have expired. I have never bought these warranties and have never regretted my decision. They are not worth the money.

No as getting the service from an extended guarantee is hard work once you need to use it also, most things come with a year or two anyway. You could buy a new machine for £190

Never bothered with extending the warranty myself.. You have a warranty with the m/c. Most companies will try and sell you their extended warrantees as they make about 40% profit out of them. If you must buy an extended warranty then look for an indipendent company, they should be cheaper.

Never! Save your money & if your wasning machine does break down within the next 5 yr use the £190 to buy a new one.
Kitchen appliances are that cheap to replace these days that they sometimes aren't even worth repairing.

The washing machine is about the only appliance i would consider for warranty as they are prone to breakdowns .

Average washing machine last 10 years and are pretty durable. I would not take it.

$380 US dollar. I don't think a repair for a washing machine would even near that much.

I usually find that something will fail quickly or last a long time. Also those warranties seem to cost too much compared to how much you pay for the item covered.

I would suggest not getting the warranty :)
