Annual Wage Supplement (AWS) is commonly known as the 13th month payment. It is a single annual payment to employees that supplements the total amount of annual wage earned by them.

Payment of AWS depends on the contractual agreement between the employer and the employee i.e. whether it is provided for in the employment contract or collective agreement.

If it is not stipulated in the employment contract, AWS payment is subject to negotiation and mutual agreement between the employer and employee, or the trade union representing the employee.

The usual practice is an employee gets pro-rated 13th month pay only if he has worked at least 6 months up to Dec 31, so you may not get any pro-rated bonus. However, if your company has done very well, or if your boss is very generous, or if your work was very good, you still may get 3/12 of one month's pay as your pro-rated 13th month pay (assuming you started work on Oct 1)
