If america never got involved in ww2? if germany defeated britain after the battle of britain lets say the soviets defeated the nazis and gained all of their former territory including britain and north africa. suppose the soviets defeated japan and gained all of its territory in mainland asia. could russia have been more powerful than america by dictating the world economic system if all of europe, asia, and africa were under its control? or could america still have the means to come out on top?

Wow, finally a great question.

I think russia could of have become the biggest superpower in the world but America would have come back and regained the title. I just believe that America would have done some real damage if that did happen, Think Hiroshima and Nagasaki but ten times worse in Russia. America has screwed a lot of countries over to get where it is today

There's a lot of supposition here that doesn't warrant a debate. In the first place, the Russians almost lost their shirts before the war got a good start. Almost all their equipment and supplies came from the U.S. as part of a pact of the "Big Three" to aide in support of the Allies because Russia tried staying out of the war.

No.

The ONLY country to have an increase in their GDP was the USA. Their GDP jumped TWO FOLD! That means it increased 100%. The USSR lost 30% of it’s GDP, COMPLETELY destroyed.

These Republics that comprised the Union could have recovered more quickly, but this is true for Any country if it didn’t have trade embargos on it or a circling of military alliances (by the west in the USSRs case).

Not likely. The USSR was still largely an agricultural nation at the start of the war; she had been bled white during the war. Manpower wise, she didn't really recover until nealy 1960. Technically and economically, she was continually hampered by her political system. The likelyhood of Russia achieving the level of prosperity while trying to maintain control of her empire is non-existent.

What a stupid question!

1) USSR would not win Germany without USA help
2) Russia never posses the lend you mentioned (and never claim it as their possession),
3) with out that USSR had huge and rich territory with 260 mil citizens and failed to run it successfully...

do I need to continue?

I don't think America could've come out on top if it didn't got involved in ww2

We were suffering from the great depression at the time and ww2 is what ended it.

But Hitler would've probably ruled half of the world if America didn't join the war.

Also I think it would've been really hard for the Soviet Union if it got control of everything, it would be too big to handle. Many of those countries suffered economically after the war.

assuming that america could restrain itself from being involved, maybe USSR could have been the richest country in the world. by the way, Luxembourg is the richest in the world, not america, which has the largest economy in the world. who knows what could have happened... maybe the world could have been a better place. model communist countries like cuba have the best health care in the world. but don't mistake me, because i already liked the ways things turned out.
