They need access to an area of higher humidity but you don't need to raise the humidity of the entire cage, that's not necessary or even recommended for leos . Just provide a humid shelter. An enclosed plastic hide, like a tupperware, with a small entry hole. Keep a layer of damp moss inside.

You don't want the humidity up in the tank.

Leopard geckos come from an arid environment naturally, and if it becomes too humid they're prone to developing respiratory infections.

Just make sure that your gecko has a moist hide - something as simple as a cheap reusable plastic container with a hole cut in the side for the gecko to go into when he needs to.

You can put moss, eco-earth, bed a beast etc. or some paper towel in the container and make sure it always stays moist and you'll be good to go.

the humidity is supposed to be very low. They live in dessert environments. You could use paper towels, and maybe even play sand if your leopard gecko is an adult.

just have a plastic container, e.g margarine tub and fill it with damp paper towels. this is a nice humid hide for the little guy and he / she will find his/her way into it and realize how nice it is in thier. if your not satisfied with this then pour a not too little but not too large amount of water onto the subsrate on cool side and hot side.
