No. People are still smoking weather it is 'unfashionable' or not. Still plenty of smoking equipment still being mass produced so i doubt it.

Actually yes, there's even a terms for these kinds of collectibles: tobacciana. Judging from the fact that if you search "tobacciana" on Google you get well over two million results, I would say that tobacco collectibles are quite popular. A friend of mine who's a dealer tells me that some of the more collectible types of tobacciana are, in addition to Zippo lighters which have already been mentioned, cigarette holders (those long extensions that women used to attach their cigarettes to, think Cruella De Ville), cigarette cases, matchbooks and matchboxes from notable places, tabletop lighters and tabletop smoking sets (large, tabletop lighters with matching ashtrays, etc.), and advertising signage or in-store displays. He also said that the collectibility of smoking memorabilia is higher when the item has a theme that crosses over with another area of collecting, i.e. Art Deco ashtrays will appeal to collectors of tobacciana and collectors of Art Deco, a floor-standing ashtray with an airplane will attract tobacciana collectors as well as those who collect aviation memorabilia.
Hope that helps. Cheers.

Something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Thank god for EBAY!! Zippo lighters are already collectables. I wonder how much a Mcdonald's ashtray would bring in now and in 20 years. Good Question! I have a camel cash ashtray if you are interested?

Believe it or not, some collectors are looking for Tobacco products. Every once in a while the Antiques Roadshow has some sort of ashtray, snuff box, etc. on there and it can be worth money. You can always go to their site to see if there is any information on it or go to your local library and check out a book on antiques and look up any items you may have for their current value.

Not sure about lighters and ashtrays but I've seen quite a few of the old cigarette cases in antique stores.

Old smoking accessories are collectible if they are rare - doesn't have anything to do with whether smoking is in fashion or not.
I wish it were out of fashion. Smokers are pigs, they throw their butts on the ground wherever they go.

No, from watching some of the antique programmes it looks like some of the collectables are considered as un-PC. This is due to the fact that they are less likely to be considered as 'useable' items.
