A couple days ago I bought a new computer that came preinstalled with vista a couple hours after the initial start up and updates I began to install various programs. When I started to setup Alcohol 120% my computer froze, went to the BSOD, and shut off. I can no longer get past the initial windows vista loading screen before it goes back to the BSOD and shuts off again. Booting in safe mode does not work, and the known configuration that worked is not even an option.

Also, the computer did not come with any form of windows install disk either, so I have no way of reformatting.

Taking it back to the store is not an option. The problem has most definitely been caused by Alcohol 120% which is a third party program that I chose to install myself, thus this leaves the warranty void.

No safe mode? No restore disk? Doesn't leave you many options other than locating yourself a restore disk. Since you bought the PC in a store, it will have a sticker on the case or the manual with the Vista registration code on it.

** Legally, even if the PC came preinstalled with the OS, they have to provide some sort of Windows restore disk as well, so go to the store and talk to the salesperson and see how you can get your restore disk or call the manufacturer and see about getting one --

Otherwise, use a disk from a friend or find a torrent file to download and burn an ISO of the disk and use your code to reinstall.

Also, your warranty should not be voided by installing software - that's part of everyday use. Opening the case would certainly void the warranty though.

After examining all those different solutions, it happened to me that the venture would okay have not got something to do with the OS, viruses, or any of that different nonsense. in simple terms placed, it can be a concern akin to what I had a while in the past. i develop into experiencing an identical hassles, the only ingredient i'd desire to do develop into to close it down and attempt lower back later Lo and behold, i desperate to get a much bigger perplexing rigidity sooner or later, I put in it and the venture disappeared. WHY? It seems that the venture develop into that the HDD develop into at fault. A techie informed me after finding out it, that a capacitor (a thingie that holds a fee for a undeniable length of time) in the HDD develop into no longer functioning and as a result it develop into overheating and closing itself down. answer: Get yet another HDD, set up the OS, set up all your backups and/or reinstall any classes or video games you prefer. a super sort of artwork, yet in spite of this, a comp. is in simple terms slightly hardware, it may and does ruin down via no fault of your very own. ;-)

Have you tried system restore. Some computers have on board restore. It might have that option when the the start up page appears. Like F1 goes into the bios and F10 for the system restore. after restoring your computer you may have the option to make your own system restore disks. So check your manuals that came with the computer.

Take it back to the store where you bought it - or call the manufacture with your warranty information.
