depends on which board and what features you want ... I use (where possible) and recommend Asus MoBo's .. but have used some very good Gigabyte boards as well ...depends on what the system is for and what your budget is

I personally like ASUS boards the best. They are fast and usually work well.
Intel boards work well, but are slower, and lack the bios options of the ASUS boards.
Gigabyte boards are "spotty". Don't get me wrong, they have some outstanding boards, but in among those good boards are some really bad boards. Let me suggest that you let someone else buy the desired Gigabyte board, then if it works out for them (and you can see/try before buying), then go for it.

i think its also imporant to tell what you are looking in the brand.

Intel is more a oem manufacture and gets a lots of their motherboards out of asus factories
gigabyte is not a bad company and make good equipment
but i say asus would be the best.
they have a lot of diverent motherboards in every price range. they make high quality hardware for the price but you can also get a cheap one if you want a stable product but dont want all the extra's for overcloacking they were favor pick for a while but msi just made some new boards that could top them atm.

Not knowing your application its hard to tell...
I'm a gamer so I like AMD and currently use a MSI board.
AMD are a gamers choice, IMO, due to performance/price.
