don't think your alone, I' ve done it for the last44 years, and on extreme shifts, and no extra pay for doing it,But making up for it now as I'm retired.maybe you should work for the council, they shut down early.

I've had to work 7 twelve hour night shifts in a row..straight through Christmas and have to come in at midnight the night of New Year's Eve. I should also mention that this was the 4th Christmas I've had to work in a row..and am scheduled the next 3. I hate this place.

Nope...most people who work in the health service, police, fire and ambulance personnel all work...hospitals don't close for holidays and emergencies don't stop either.

I work in a forensic ward..am currently on night duty and have been working the last 7 nights in a row...without a night off! starting at 8pm until 7.30am....its a long night.

having to work today, tomorrow and Monday and the festive days off would be a blessing for the likes of me and my colleagues....

hope you had a nice Christmas.....some folk spend it away from their families WORKING!

Join the club. I'm back at work today but I'm going to do as little as possible. Cold turkey sandwiches for lunch and a bag full of christmas chocolates will make it that bit more bearable. Never mind...at least the weekend is near!

Yep, me too. I'm sat here with nothing to do but wait for the phone to ring, which has rang about 5 times so far. I'm sat here thinking, what the heck am I doing here, surely, this must cost the company more than if they closed during the xmas period....... Can't see the method in there madness.

no my friend,it is not just you. i too have worked the last 10 christmasses with the exception of this year!!! (maternity leave)but it took the agony of having a baby to get bloomin' christmas off !! not that it was planned that way AT ALL!!lucky all round i but i'll be back in work next christmas and new year...............'cos there will be no more babies i assure you. as a man i appreciate that you cant nip off and generate a kid just for extra leave so my advice to you would be - have a dental abcess or toothache(nudge nudge wink wink) and you'll simply have to have time off!!!merry christmas tho xx

Nope. I'm in work today and tomorrow, but I'm off on Monday.

The phone hasn't rang once and I am sitting here with nothing to do, as is everyone else. Aaaaahhh! Hope they let us away early!

7 hours to go and counting .......
