Find out for yourself, go to your local library for example. Look up Michael Gauquelin, a scorpio looking to debunk astrology because he loved it so much yet one day something happened, something horrible when he seriously questioned its validity........but with his major in statistics he tried to debunk it, and was completely amazed and stupedified to find that his true love was actually real!
There have been many other studies as well. Sources for these that I have run into are cosmitec astrology (look up on google) and http://astrologyweekly.com which has a small collection of studies done to prove astrology (successfully).
Sites to make your own chart and get free readings include:

With regards to the comment "there cant be just 12 types of people in the world", Astrology doesn't suggest that there are just 12 types of people in the world.
There are several levels (or factors) in Astrology:
1. The Sun Sign, which changes (as most people understand) 12 times a year.
2. The Rising Sign, which changes every 2 hours.
3. There are 12 sections (Houses) of an Astrological Chart and the Rising Sign is the first of the Houses affecting the Ego of the person. Each of the other 11 Houses affects different parts of the person's character, the first 6 Houses being their own personal characteristics [the 6th House affects your Work] and the second 6 Houses being how the person relates to others.
4. Where the Moon and the Planets are in the chart affects the person according to which of the Houses they are in, each House having its area of influence and Moon and Planets have differing affects. {Mars is considered to affect aggression or determination].
5. Where the Sun, Moon and Planets are in the Chart in relation to each other affects the strength of each of each of the Sun, Moon and Planets. Where the Sun, Moon and Planets are at differing angles to one another, they can either strengthen or weaken the effects between the two objects.
The above are what are considered to be the major influences within a Chart, but there are a few other more subtle effects that expert Astrologers can bring into play.
Within the 12 Sun Signs (factor 1.) there are distinctly 4 of the Sun Signs that suggest Leader type (Cardinal) people, subject to the subtleties of the other major factors (2, 3, 4 & 5) not having a bad influence on their leadership ability..
The best thing for you to do to have a better understanding of Astrology is to study the first 3 factors above and then try to find those characteristics in people that you know well and maybe like me you will start to find some correlations between the signs. But remember everyone is different even if the have the same Sun Sign. Also Genetics and Nurture can also modify a person, much as the terrain of the earth is modified by the weather.

Why is gravitational pull from celebrities more relevant than gravitational pull from any other person ? If you want to propose valid scientific theory than you need to explain HOW your principle works, also you need to add mathematical basis for your claims. Then according to your math you (or anybody else) must be able to demonstrate in nature how it works and also be able to predict with absolute certainty the outcome. Than we can call it a law of nature. Astrologers have never given scientific world any such valid theorem but on the other hand many scientists were able to prove that the basis of astrology are total nonsense. That's why astrology is not in science category on Yahoo Answers. ---- I kinda misunderstand you question. Whole idea about astrology is here because science does not provide solid explanation for human nature. It is the same with Big Bang and the beginning of time and whole bunch of things science has no answer to. If there was a solid theory of everyone with undeniable proof anyone can understand than there would be no reason for God and religions. Unfortunately we are not there yet so we need to suck up all the pseudosciences, end of the world predictions and other religion bs. People are curious and want some answers many people are unfortunately so blind that they can't see that most of those answers (not provided by science) are wrong or they don't care anyway.

Since answer this question, I guess I am one of those lonely losers who failed at every thing in life so I resort to online life to make myself feel important? No body wants to be with me even on a Friday night . I am not a pervert , just horny. I don't stalk women here on Yahoo. Maybe somewhere else. I don't have a long history of hanging around on this place. I am only in level one. I don't have multiple accounts either.
There
I still don't believe in astrology. And there ain't nuttin you people can do about it! Maybe I am an idiot. maybe i might change when i read into astrology. But what's the point of trying to convert every body else to think and feel the way I do. I am not ANAL retentive. I am not a religious fanatic either. I am not trying to convert anybody. But excuse me for not believing in astrology. It's not my religion. Since i am in horoscope astrology catergory, i will respect everybody else for their truth. See i am not an *sshole non believer.
you asked, i answered. yes or no
mine is no
No, I don't thumb any body down even if they don't believe in the same thing that i do. I haven' reached level 2. I hope I never have to get there.
by the way, i don't do blogs and this is a real post not a money making spam

There is proof that the rays of our sun and those of other planets are needed for life to happen as we know it, and you don't need a PH. D to acknowledge that. A fresh fish put in a metallic can won't decay for a while. An orange juice put in a bottle decays nonetheless after 10 days. So you get a hint there about what metal does. It deflects the rays. And you get a hint about what rays do. Put a cell phone in a metallic can, and the same thing happens. Your phone won't catch the waves and it won't work.
Why a particular time of the year/day would give particular results and give sense to the study of stars? It seems that most plants in nature know that better than we do. The angle of a ray of light deternines its effect. What makes winter? Is it the sun being closer*, or the sun sending its light straight up?
The astrologers themselves are a bunch of bs from my point of view and it's not their fault, they are just educated to see themselves like crap, in such a way that prevents them to evolve towards something that's forgotten, twisted, faked or not yet recognised.

It is easy to say against astrology. We can say so for anything as long as we can mend the meaning. The point is, is your personal experience supporting astrology. Have you really given it a test with the credit you must give seriously. Once you do that, I am sure, you will see that it will prove its worth.
We generally take care of all the subjects we learn, and we forget character building. Character comes from the truth that inner stimulation is the key.
Best of luck!

I'm fascinated by numerology. I strongly believe that numbers reflect certain aptitudes and character tendencies, as an integral part of the cosmic plan. Each letter has a numeric value that provides a related cosmic vibration. The sum of the numbers in your birth date and the sum of value derived from the letters in the name provide an interrelation of vibrations. These numbers show a great deal about character, purpose in life, what motivates, and where talents may lie.
To find out more about your numerology you can head over to this site http://numerology.toptips.org and ask for your personalized report (for free)

If you're really curious, then give it shot. You'll either come to find that it is something you want to engage in, or you won't. I sort of dabbled in Astrology during my middle school/early high school days, but then decided that I got more excitement out of just living life, and gaining experience based on the mistakes and successes I've had throughout.
All I suggest is that, like anything, not to let it be the main determining factor of how you live your life. It kind of makes me sad when people do that, because you could miss out on what could turn out to be some awesome experiences and people that way. On the same token, letting one thing rule your life could also land you into some really negative situations. It's one thing to use your belief in your daily life, but to support it so strongly that you restrict yourself? Not a good idea. And this isn't just for Astrology either, many people do this with religions and other things. I've heard quite a few suggest that one should use astrology more as a set of guidelines as opposed to actual "rules" set in stone about how one should live their life, or how their life/personality should be. If I was to ever give Astrology another shot, then THIS is how I would use it. Life is too short to be restrictive.
You'll have to go from there. But don't be swayed into leaning towards either side, unless you feel it is the thing for you. But that applies to just about anything in life. I guess I'm trying to say, that whatever you do, use your common sense.
I hope this helps. ^_^
One last thing that I want to address is the argument about people "prowling around Y.A. preaching and posting links to blogs in favor of their view point etc.". Not only does this goes both ways, but then to also assume, that the person in question has "no lives, family, jobs school, friends etc." just because they strongly lean one way is also quite unfair. Now it's one thing if the person in question is trying to convert others into their belief system. But if that's not the case, then don't you suppose you're being a little harsh with the accusations/speculations about the persons well-being, personally etc.? Like I said, I don't really believe in Astrology, myself. But on the same token, I don't engage in nor do I support the attitude of accusing those who don't share my (non)beliefs of having no lives, being crazy etc. Everyone is different.
Now, let's try to respect the opinions of one another, act our age now, and not use high-school style arguments to get a point across, shall we? Just a thought.

I don't think that all system of astrologies are BS. I think astrology is more honest than some of the bogus answers here . What I think is BS is somebody prowling around on the net days in days out , having no family, friends, don't work, don't go to school, and preach to someone else about the bogus of astrology when he is spamming this catergory with his blogs full of googles money making ads. That's BS! Imagine how long the prowling is to get to that level! That's probably the same perv that stalk women on Yahoo causing us to have to hide our infos.
I bet the perv will thumb me down
